Ingredients

  • 1 packet dry active yeast 2 1/2 teaspoons
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 2 1/2 - 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 hot dogs or brats
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  • Mix together the yeast and water and let bloom for 10 minutes.
Add sugar, oil, salt, and 2 cups flour. Mix with a stand mixer with dough attachment until combined. Knead for 7-8 minutes or until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a ball.
  • Lightly grease the dough with oil. Cover and put dough in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down the bread down and roll it into a log. Then cut it into 12 pieces. Roll the dough between your hands until it’s a thin piece, and wrap it around the hot dog or brat. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Combine egg and milk in a bowl. Whisk, then brush onto the bread. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
