- 1 packet dry active yeast 2 1/2 teaspoons
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
- 2 1/2 - 3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 12 hot dogs or brats
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds
Mix together the yeast and water and let bloom for 10 minutes.Add sugar, oil, salt, and 2 cups flour. Mix with a stand mixer with dough attachment until combined. Knead for 7-8 minutes or until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a ball. Lightly grease the dough with oil. Cover and put dough in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
Punch down the bread down and roll it into a log. Then cut it into 12 pieces. Roll the dough between your hands until it’s a thin piece, and wrap it around the hot dog or brat. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Combine egg and milk in a bowl. Whisk, then brush onto the bread. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Bake at 375 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
