Creamy Pineapple Orange Homemade Popsicles Recipe
We are a HUGE fan of frozen popsicles at our house and making them couldn’t be easier. It’s pretty much impossible to have a bad day when you are sitting around nibbling on one of these frozen treats.
If you’ve never had homemade popsicles before, I promise you have been missing out. All you need is a few easy ingredients, a popsicle mold and some popsicle sticks and you will be well on your way to an incredible treat.
How To Make Popsicles
I’m super excited to share how to make popsicles with you because these are seriously the best popsicles ever. Let’s get to it:
- Add the pineapple juice, orange juice, vanilla, sugar, and heavy cream to a high-quality blender. Turn it on and whip for 2-3 minutes. Letting it whip will give the orange popsicles time to blend together incorporate the ingredients. Plus the heavy cream will have a chance to thicken up. It needs to be slightly runny. You don’t want it to get too thick or it won’t pour easily.
- Pour the pineapple cream popsicle mixture into the popsicle molds. Then freeze the ice pops for 6 hours and enjoy!
Can you believe it’s that easy? I know that I have become a popsicle making fool lately and I am going to be thrilled to share the recipes with you!
Fruit Popsicle Variations
As with all my other recipes, there are plenty of ways you can add variety and make them a little different. Here are some of my favorite ways to make these popsicles.
- Coconut Milk – You can add in some coconut milk to make them taste more tropical. I will sometimes use half of the heavy cream and the rest coconut milk. It tastes so yummy!
- Strawberries – Add some sliced strawberries to the blender to add some extra color and flavor. Strawberries taste fantastic with pineapples and oranges.
- Fruit Juice – You can switch out the pineapple juice or the orange juice with any other fruit juice. We enjoy berry-flavored juices as well as apple juice. The options are truly endless so go wild.
Are These Icy Or Creamy Popsicles?
These popsicles are super creamy and have a texture similar to ice cream. If you are looking for them to be more icy than creamy, you can leave out the heavy cream. We love the flavor and texture the way that it is, but you can certainly try it that way too.
Can I Make These Into Boozy Popsicles?
Yes, you can absolutely turn this into a boozy popsicle. We have added different liquors and had good luck. We usually stick with rum but feel free to experiment to see what you like. Then you can relax with the best alcoholic popsicles ever! Just keep in mind, you can’t put a lot of alcohol into the mix or it won’t freeze. No one wants that!
How Do You Make Popsicles Without A Mold?
If you don’t have a popsicle mold, but you are craving these creamy popsicles, don’t worry! You can easily make these delicious pineapple popsicles without a mold. It’s best to use small cups or containers and just put the liquid in them and freeze. You can add wooden sticks or skip them if you want.
Helpful Tips For Making Homemade Popsicles
Popsicles are exremely easy to make, but I wanted to give you a couple of tips so your experience is the best it can be.
- Don’t overfill the plastic molds, silicone molds, or popsicle maker. It’s tempting to add lots of liquid so they are big, but if you do they expand and you end up with funky shapes.
- Make sure popsicle liquid is creamy and smooth. It just gives you a better experience eating these particular fruity popsicles when they are smooth. These are meant to be creamy!
- If you are using silicone or plastic molds, run them under warm water before trying to remove the popsicle. Running the molds under some water will allow the popsicles to melt just enough to ease them out. I have broken a few popsicles along the way!
