Learn how to make Easy Cinnamon Rolls with puff pastry and you will have a new favorite breakfast idea. With just a handful of ingredients and under 20 minutes you will have quick cinnamon rolls with homemade cinnamon roll glaze.
We are more than happy to eat cinnamon rolls pretty much any day of the week at our house. Using puff pastry makes them so flaky and delicious. Plus, it’s hard to beat the cinnamon roll icing recipe.
🍩 Ingredients
- Puff pastry dough
- Unsalted butter
- White sugar
- Brown sugar
- Cinnamon
- Flour
Cinnamon Roll Glaze
- Powdered sugar
- Pure vanilla extract
- Heavy whipping cream
🥄 Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Thaw the puff pastry according to the direction on the box. Then sprinkle a little bit of flour on a piece of parchment paper or your countertop. Then lay out one puff pastry dough. Add melted butter. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar, white sugar, and cinnamon on top. Push the sugars down with the back of a spoon or measuring cup so it sticks into the puff pastry dough. Repeat the process with the second puff pastry dough.
- Roll up the dough carefully and cut it into cinnamon rolls. I used a pizza cutter, but any method would work. You should end up with 16 cinnamon rolls. Lay them on a baking sheet and leave about 1 inch between the rolls.
- Bake the cinnamon rolls for 15 – 18 minutes or until they are light golden brown.
- While the cinnamon rolls are baking mix the powdered sugar, vanilla extract and heavy whipping cream in a bowl using a fork. Add extra heavy whipping cream if desired to reach the consistency that you want.
- When the cinnamon rolls are done baking let them cool for 5-10 minutes, drizzle the glaze on top and serve. Enjoy!
Tips/Tricks/Variations
- You don’t want the pastry dough to sit out too long or it isn’t as easy to work with. It should be cooled. If it seems like it’s not working well, you can put it in the fridge for a few minutes to chill it.
- Add nuts, caramel, chocolate sauce, or anything else you want to go with these rolls. They are DELICIOUS!
- You can swap the heavy whipping cream for half and half, milk, or a milk substitute of your choice.
❗ FAQs
How Do You Store Homemade Cinnamon Rolls?
Keep them in an airtight container and they will last around 3 days. We always eat them too fast, so they rarely sit around that long though! 😀
Can You Reheat Them?
Place a roll on a microwave-safe plate and cover with a paper towel. Heat for 15 seconds and check it. They reheat FAST so you don’t want to dry them out. Heat longer if needed.
Can I Add Chocolate To Them?
Absolutely! Chocolate and cinnamon is one of my favorite flavor combinations. Add some chocolate chips to the puff pastry before rolling them up. Sprinkle a few more on top.
When Are These Puff Pastry Rolls Good To Serve?
They are pretty much a go-to recipe for any occasion you can think of. Holiday breakfast is always a hit. Another option is brunch, baby showers, or any other time when you want something super easy and impressive.
Can I Double The Batch?
Of course! Simply make as many batches as you need and you will be good to go. These are the best easy breakfast ever and you are soon to find out.
