✂️ Tools

🎀 Directions

  1. Place the fabric over the small inner hoop of the embroidery hoop. Make sure the pattern is straight and the way you like it. Place the outer edge of the hoop over the fabric and screw it at the bottom to tighten it. Make sure the fabric is pulled tight. You may need to arrange a time or two to get it the way you want it. Cut away any extra fabric.
  2. Take the fabric out of the hoops and lay it down flat. Then put the smaller hoop on top and make sure the fabric is positioned well. Start hot gluing the fabric to the exterior edge of the hoop. Then begin wrapping the fabric towards the outside and glue an area that is 3-4 inches. Pull-on the fabric so it’s tight and glue the opposite side of 3-4″ fabric. Repeat the process until all of the fabric has been glued to the hoop. Allow it to dry, then add the larger hoop over the smaller hoop and tighten the screw.
  3. Take the branches and pinecones and then cut the red berry pick in half, so you have two pieces. If needed, cut any of the bunches to fit the way you want. Shape the branches to the wreath and cover the large screw piece of the hoop. Cut off any excess stems and hot glue all the pieces on. Add the berry sprigs, followed by the astilbe sprigs. Add in the Eucalyptus sprigs.
  4. Cut 4 pieces of burlap ribbon. They will need to be two 13″ pieces, one that is 15″, and one 4″ inch piece. Take the 13″ piece and turn it into a loop by overlapping the ends and hot gluing them together.
  5. Next, make the bow by taking the two loops and lay them flat, so they are on top of each other. Make sure those areas that are glued are in the middle. Pinch the middle edges of the ribbon together, so you begin to make ripples. Hold it tightly with floral wire. Then take the 4″ piece and fold it lengthwise. Add a few dots of glue and make sure it stays folded. Fold in half lengthwise one more time and secure it with two dots of hot glue.
  6. Wrap the piece around the middle of the bow and keep it in place with hot glue. Next, wrap the 15″ piece of ribbon for the long tail of the bow. Fold it over near the middle and spread apart the tailpieces. Scrunch is a little bit, and glue it to the back of the bow. Snip the ribbon, so there is a “V” shape in the bottom of the tail pieces. Hot glue the bow to the top of the hoop.
  7. Add the feet of the reindeer to the inside of the hoop. Now you have a stunning DIY Christmas wreath ready to hang!

📌 Tips

  • Feel free to change the pattern of the cloth. I love the black and white buffalo check that I can’t resist making stuff with it.
  • You can actually buy the reindeer at your local dollar store. If you don’t have one, I included a link to Amazon, just in case that’s easier.
  • Go wild when it comes to the artificial plants. I love the way this turned out, but you can for sure use other plants. Again, hitting up your local dollar store is a cheap way to make it without breaking the bank.
  • Make these DIY Christmas Wreaths for gifts is a wonderful idea! Everyone loves receiving something so special as a gift. Think of neighbors, teachers, daycare workers, and co-workers.
